18° to 3°C kind of Stories
It's been a week! I am so happy to write to you again. I am so happy with all of your emails and love. Thank you for taking some time to read my mission life.
''Rapido'' means fast. This change seems really fast and it is fascinating. My Spanish seems improving and I started to speak more compare to my previous transfers. This would my 9th week here in Jauja and I am getting used to this place than before. I can now navigate streets and the houses of the people that we are teaching or visiting. Additionally, I am still sleeping with my 5 thick blankets in my bed and it helps me to feel cozy at night. I a little bit sick this past few days 'cause the weather here is a little crazy. In the afternoon it is really sunny but when it is dusk the temperature drops up until 5° C. So, these past days my voice sounded different 'cause my nose was clogged. But I am fine now, don't worry.
Here are some of the Highlights of my week
Concepcion- Tierra de Heroes
Our District Leader named Elder Gneiting (Utah) traveled to Lima to fix his visa/documents this last Wednesday. I and my companion went to his area to stay there 'cause Elder Farias will be alone in his area. We traveled really early to go with Elder Farias (Chile). I was really happy to go to a different area to know the place but most of all to meet new people. Concepcion is beautiful and it's peaceful. The other Elders' pensionista cooks really delicious food too.
We visited the investigators of Concepcion. We met this guy named Jose Sanchez, whose really depressed by that time since he is experiencing hard problem-love. He got separated from his wife and met another girl who took all of his money and left. It is really sad. He's literally a ''victim of love''. Elder Farias was good a giving counsel and he even promised that God will help him through his problems while Elder Maqui helped him have trust in God that everything will be okay. And me, I just listened and give him assurance that he should be strong and be an example to his children that he left. We gave him priesthood blessing and Book of Mormon. He said at the end ''thank you for listening I will always remember this day''.
That was really sweet. Though he might not progress as an investigator I hope that he felt that we are the instrument of God and he felt the love that God has to offer to each of his children, whatever is your past mistakes are.
Noche de Hogar - Success
Inviting people in an activity at church is a cool idea but never here in Jauja. We decided that instead of making of weekly activity at church it is better to do it at member's houses. So, with the help of our Quorum President, he arranged a Family Home Evening in the 2nd counselor of our Branch.
Our investigator Luis invited his friend Carlos. They really enjoyed the activity and they saw how we value family inside of our church. I felt so happy also to see these two young men progressing and learning the gospel with our help and with the help of the members.
Carlos now is our new investigator and he is really interested in learning more about our message. We will make sure that we will make more wholesome activities to help him to advance.
Moving and Moved
We helped the las Hermanas here to move last Thursday. They changed their room because according to them there was a spirit roaming in their house. So, this Thursday we carried their things in their new apartment. It is a really exhausting experience.

Minute to Win-it
We had Multi-Zone Conference this last August 9 and it was uplifting. We have a new goal as a mission. Our President wanted us to move forward and faster. He felt that our mission is bit stagnant so he formulated a goal for all of us. He said that we need to contact 20 new people each day. We will do it by talking with people for only 1 minute.
The Contacting Formula would be like this:
1. Ask Inspired Questions to people (whatever the circumstances are)
2. Give a gospel Principle (e.g. God is our loving Heavenly Father)
3. Testify (e.g. I am a witness… I saw this in my own life that …)
4. Promise Blessings (God will bless you as you …)
5. Commitment (Do you like to listen more about our message? Can we visit you this…)
6. Smile and have Fire in your Heart
We tried this ‘’formula’’ last two days ago and it is really effective. We even contacted 22 people last Saturday and got some appointments. I truly testify that making goals are essential. I testify also that our Mission President is a call of God and through him, we will learn more to be better missionaries than we are now.
Aside from this he also reminded us that we need to make our ‘’eyes’’ focused and clean. We have to speak ‘beautiful things’’ and we need to be true in our purpose as a missionary. The good news is we will study Preach My Gospel every day in our personal study and companionship study.
He even reminded us to focus on the work and never waste Lord’s time for those unworldly things. Mission rules and Handbook for Missionaries are not restrictions but rather a guide and a way to be happy and a successful missionary as mentioned in Chapter 1 of PMG.
I want to leave you this verse in the Bible it says
"The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22. I truly testify by obedience we will be able to enjoy the fullness of the light of God and by His light, we will be safely home!
Happy Birthday to my querido Hermana Stephanie!! I love you and I miss you. You are so special ‘cause your my only sister and thank you for taking care of me since when we were young. Thank you for loving me since I am that makulit and 45% tamad na bunso. Te quiero mucho. Sorry din ‘cause never kitang tinawag na ate. Hahaha. Feliz Cumpleaños!
