23 Years and Kickin'
This is really a very unupdated blog. And a lot of things happened this last few weeks. I even forgot what happened. Hahaha.
Anyway, I am still here in Jauja and we are still freezing. You know what why? because my comp broke our hot shower. It is really funny what happened to him. He was burnt while he's showering. Me and Elder Hurst can't stop laughing that time. As a result we were showering cold water, as in. I quite remember the Ice Bucket Challenge before. Hahaha.
Contacting Ways
This week we are challenge by our District Leader that we need to contact at least 10 people a day here in Jauja. It is quite difficult since people here are really set on their ways and don't want to change anything about their beliefs nor their life. It is pretty crazy since they're really Catholics here.
Knocking doors will never work here since people are always busy according to them and they don't have time to hear our message. So, what we did is we find some cool ways to contact people. Elder Maqui is really courageous young man and he could definitely talk with all people, no doubt because his is Peruano. He have different ways to contact people by dancing Marinera. Marinera is a folk dance in Peru and we contacted 10 people in the plaza and he taught on of them Marinera. It works and we gave them tarjetas (cards) and invited them to attend church. It's kind of sad since they are not living here in Jauja, they're just visiting. Pero, esta bien.
Mi CumpleaƱo!
Yeah, you heard it right. I just celebrated my 23rd birthday here in my mission. It is really sweet. except that my two companions threw a lot of eggs on my head. It is really gross and the smell of eggs really sticks in my body and I showered with cold water that night.
I enjoyed my birthday because a member here invited us in her house (Hna. Maria) and she prepared home made hamburgers and she bought a little cake for me. She's awesome. I also did cook a adobo since I miss Filipino in our pension but it turned ''epic fail''. My chicken adobo was burned and it is really funny. My pension was really surprised but they forgive since I don't really cook at home. Hahaha.
Our pension bought me a cake a chocolate cake and it is really rico (delicious). They have a tradition here that they called morda la torta and they will throw the cake a your face. It is funny.
The funny thing also about my birthday here in Peru is like people have their fiesta in the plaza. I felt like I was so special since there was a dancing competetion and it is really crazy- (boring). Peru dances are nice but they their dance steps are really easy to follow and doesn't have a lot of intricacy. But it is okay. A least they know how to dance. Hahaha.
Well it is been an another year for me. I feel old. I am now 23 and still kicking. Celebrating my birthday here in my mission would probably the best gift that I EVER recieved. Living in the Lord's time and helping His children about His gospel is an honor and a priviledge for me. I am so grateful for everything and for the love of Christ that He prepared for me.
Though, I am super far from home but I felt the love of my mission, companions, and people here Peru. I thankful for the gospel and for this another year and more. I just wish that I will be able to withstand anything here in my mission and my testimony will grow more. I just wish a good and happy life for me and for the people around me. That would be all. Gracias. Haha.
PS. June 28 was the last day of Presidente Silva here in mission. And also, we have a new President. Presidente Cabrera. Stories to be continued.
