Understand than to be Understood.

This week was really tough and rough.
I was having difficulty communicating with my new companion, he is from Lima and has some months on the mission. The moment that they paired me up to be his companion I know that I would be a challenge by myself.
It is critical to communicate with your companion as a missionary. You must establish a rule with them and express your dissatisfaction with their treatment of you and it sincerely with your companion. It's nice to have pleasant company, but be sure your companion respects you as well. Jokes can be amusing at times, but be careful not to upset anyone. Your companion should be someone you can trust, not someone you despise or oppose. I understand that it is a difficult assignment; after all, we are human, and we prefer to evaluate others based on their behavior. So, if you're having trouble with a friend, pray for him, serve him, and treat him the way you want to be treated.

I sobbed so hard because it seemed like all of my "cargas" had been emptied since September with all of my Latino comp and all of those awful emergency transfers. I suggested to my colleague that he tone down his joke and attempt to be cooler in another way. He asked for apologies the next day, which he accepted, and everything went smoothly after that. That was a whirlwind week.

Looking for a better week.
