Happy One Year! Go and Do
1 Nephi 3:7
7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
This the new Youth Theme for the year 2020. Who's excited!
This youth theme has a really big impact on me as a missionary. The principle of this verse is striking but very simple. Just ''go and do'' because the Lord prepared His way to accomplish things. Going in mission (Peru Huancayo to be specific) is not that easy. But with His help we could do things that are impossible to be possible.
HAPPY ONE YEAR TO ME
Yeah, you heard it right. I am one year here in mission.
Describing my mission life would be very surreal. I am telling you it is really life-changing. I don't even remember the person I was before. I must say I am an improved version of myself right now. Still, I am that Josh, but with a lot of wisdom and knowledge about the world and life. Maybe, I am thinking it's part of being an adult but mission really pushed me to go out on that shell that covered my potentials before. But now I am know myself better. Like scriptures says ''Whosoever Will Lose His Life for My Sake Shall Find It''
I was at my lowest lows but through God I have seen my higher highs! I became the person that I was supposed to be. I am not that ''maarte'' and ''ma-feeling'' person. (Kaya ko na pong kumain ng kahit anong ulam). Hahaha.
I am still thankful for our Heavenly Father for sending me here in Peru Huancayo mission. It is really far from home but I found a home here. Peru needs a Filipino-hearted here to warm up their lives and they need my voice! A voice for repentance and voice to inspire and uplift!
It is really nice to look back all the experiences I had this wonderful one year service here.
Here are some of the unforgettable experiences I had:
1.First day in mission when we travelled 8 hrs. Lima to Huancayo and I threw up 4 times. Hahaha.
2. In my first area I was teaching Plan of Salvation in Spanish and it went like this
Me: Dios, Padre Celestial tiene carne y huevos. (God, Heavenly Father have a flesh and EGGS) instead of saying the word huesos which means bones. Hahaha.
Investigators: (looks) and laughed. Hahaha.
3. When people try to talk to me and ask me something I always respond them ''si'' or yes without even understanding them. Haha
4. Explaining why we Filipinos don't use ''toilet paper'' is really a thing here in my mission. That sounds racist. Haha.
Here are some of the Photos last year in Manila Philippines Office of the Church and in Taiwan.
I am really happy to be here. And see you next year! End of October I will be home. Hahaha. This sounds so trunkie!
